Default savage 93-.17 HMR

i recently received the above as a price at a NWTF banquet. i am not really sure what i have or what i should expect out of it. is this glorified 22 mag? i am assuming it is mostly a varmint rifle with good accuracy as it has a heavy barrell with a stock that i would consider a target style stock. i need to get a scope for it. do i plan out just shooting to 100yds?

great rifle on small game, im not sure about larger predators, id be a little leery of anything less than a headshot on a yote, etc ive heard the penetration is questionable (rememebr you are shooting a little 17 or 20 grain bullet, it explodes more than penetrates). That said i love mine, its a tack driver and any squirrel within about 150 yards is in the pot

Proud owner of a .17HMR.

I shoot CCI's .17gr. Hollow point's & V-max's.

Very accurate out to 150 yards with zero recoil.

Use this gun for anything under 10-15 pounds & you'll be fine IMO.

i recommend Burris, cause i like em and they last, awesome customer service.
if ya sight it in at 150, its only on the up like .4" at the most til it gets there. i stress at the most.
