I took a look around and got a pair of the Leight Shooter's Muffs. I looked at the Peltors but they seemed like a tight fit.

I use both earplugs (they come in an orange color) that you can squish to fit your ear as well as over the ear, muff-type ear protection

I like the Peltor Tactical headset. Very comfortable, top for noise reduction and tapered on the bottom so there is no interference with the rifle stock.

I think, earplugs is best because it will give you best hearing protection instead of earmuffs. In the shooting competition earplugs will give you an extra protection so I recomanded to use earplugs while shooting or any competition.

My audiologist told me to wear both ear plugs and muffs.

I have the peltor tactical head set which is fine, unless the wind is blowing, then I can't stand them. I also have a set of E.A.R. electronic ear plugs, I have the same problem when it is windy.

That's a wise idea. We never notice our hearing loss until after it has occurred and is too late.

I have over 50% hearing loss in my left ear. I wear a plug in my right ear and electronic muffs while competing. Most of this season, I screwed additional hearing protection to the front of my rifle, so I didn’t have to worry nearly as much - the position to the firing line when I wasn’t up was sufficient to abate the sound enough only electronic muffs worked fine.
