30/30 input needed
I am looking to get a 30/30.
my options are
mossberg- new
winchester - used
henry-used
Marlin-used
I can get the mossberg new for 400, and the rest would be a used price. So I need pro's and con's so I can make a choice.
thanks

I have had my marlin 336 since the early 90s, and cant tell you how many rounds have gone thru it. I have no experience with the others. Im told the winchesters are more labor intensive to take apart for cleaning, and Im sure the others would be that way too. Handle them all and see what fits. IMO, unless you have less then good eye sight, stick to iron sights, and dont mount a scope. Ive shot mine with and without a scope, and it handles much nicer without the added weight on top.

IMO the two best choices are Winchester and Marlin. The Marlin has side eject, so it is easier to mount a scope or holographic sight if you wish. The Marlin 336 as a reputation of good accuracy for a lever action with a tubular magazine and barrel band on the stock forearm. With any firearm, take a close look at the rifling and especially the crown.

Either the winchester or marlin. The others are new and cheaply made. The marlins the most accurate but the winny is close. If you want a scoped gun go marlin but if u wanna iron sighted brush gun go winchester. My 2cents worth

I have shot and used both the Marlin and the Winchester.. I like the Marlin much better. The biggest draw back from the Marlin is it is heavier to carry. It does shoot better than the Winchester due to the micro grove rifleing.. I also have a tip-off scope mounted on mine and I love the set up..
