Default Synthetic stocks

My Ruger M77 Hawkeye with standard barrel is supposed to be 7.5 pounds but it sure feels much heavier with its current hardwood stock. I need to shed some weight if possible. Anyone know what the approx. weight is on a Ruger hardwood stock? A Hogue synthetic, for example, is supposed to be around 2.5 lbs.

take it off an weigh your stock, see if you'd gain anything by going to synth.

I believe McMillan makes a stock that will fit the Ruger Hawkeye, and I'm pretty sure they've made all of their stocks available with their EDGE technology. Most weight around 21-22oz. That would definitly shave some weight off of your rifle. Expect to pay apx. $500 and wait about 4-5 months for it to be shipped to you.....but it will be one of the very best stock in production
