.40 S&W or the .45 ACP

Trying to post a poll here, not sure if it will work.

Anyway, which would you all prefer. A .40 cal. S&W or a .45 ACP for 'whatever' it might be. Self defense, or target shooting or just whatever.

I choose both, but its not allowed. I own mostly 1911s in the proper caliber, lol, but also have a pair of 40's in tupperware as well. Either caliber is good, though the recoil is not as sharp when shooting the 45 vs the 40. You get more rounds in a mag with a 40, but other then target shooting, IMO more then 8 rounds is moot, except when arguing for the right to carry more then 10. Make sense?lol.

All other things being equal I would take the .45....till I can fight my way back to my shotgun or rifle.

I'm taking the .45 all day. Love a 1911, for self defense reasons, I am always a fan of a bigger bullet. Compact 1911's are quite concealable also. Such a superior feel in this feller's hands.

If the difference is 13 rounds of .40 in a mag or 8 of 45 I would take the 40 anyday

I only own a .40 of those two choices.
I shoot 165 Berry FMJ reloads for plinking and shoot 180 HP for self defense.

40 or 45?

I own both and carry both but my "choice" is 45ACP with 200gr Hydra-Shock.
GOOD LUCK and GOOD SHOOTING!!!

The only thing a handgun is good for is to get you back to a shotgun or rifle. It holds only one advantage over either, and that is ability to conceal.

.45 man here.If I was going to go with the .40 dia. It would just naturally have to be the 10 mm.That little bit of length of the brass and the small amount of powder makes a whole lot more difference than you would think ......JMHO
