Just wondering what kind of velocity to expect from my 24" Hart barreled .300 Win. Mag.
I figure I'm loosing around 60-80 fps. from a 26" tube. I would LIKE to see 180's aproaching 3100 fps. out of the 24" barrel.
Anyone shooting a .300 Winny with a 24" barrel and actually chronographed 180's or 165's?
Thanks

Schoolcraft,
Sorry not for the 24" barrels. I load for 3100fps for my 165gr 300win mag and end up with an average of 3180fps out of a 26" barrel so your figures is about right. I could go even faster but that's a pet load on accuracy and that's fast enough when it's shooting that tight of groups. That would be my approach, to have a goal in mind but not sacrifice the accuracy of the load for speed. 3100 is fast enough for any 165 or 180gr load.
