The ballistics are better for the 7mm, although there's a little wider selection for the .308. I chose the 7mm-08, and I buy a two or three boxes of ammo whenever I see some at the store. I've got about 20 or so boxes of it now, which is probably enough to last my, and my son's lifetimes...
