A synthetic stock helps over wood. And a limbsaver (or similar) recoil pad helps too. I've shot mine for many years.

I thought a wood stock would help because its heavier?

Browning X Bolt Stainless Stalker a good gun?

Sheridan 01-19-2011 09:22 AM

I own one in .338 Win Mag.............and love it !

I wish all my rifles were that good !!!

The heaviest stock will be the best one at reducing the recoil. A good recoil pad goes a long way.

Can't you get out to a local shooting range and see if someone has one that you can shoot?

Target shooting my X 300 win, I can notice a difference from 180's to 150's. But when theres a deer on the other end can't tell.
