Preparing an old(er) gun for the range.
I have a .270 that hasn't been cleaned, or fired, in at least 10 years. Is there anything I need to check for, or do to it, other than giving it a good cleaning before I take it to the range?

If you are cleaning it and oiling the moving parts lightly, that ought to be enough. You might dry fire it a few times and check the function of the safety. Likewise, being very careful of course, you might put some cartridges in the magazine and verify that the cartridges cycle (I assume this is a bolt action).

Thanks ya'll! It is a bolt action rifle. I can't wait to get it to the range. It's been a long time since I've fired a gun, and even longer since I've been hunting. I hope to change all that very, very soon.
