Default Need recommendations for a .308 load

I reload for our deer camp. My cousin wants to go from the 150 gr. he shoots now, to a 165 gr. load for his .308. I have been using IMR3031 for the 150's. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good starting point to develop an accurate 165 gr. load?

Rather than accept information from unknown strangers, why don't you get ahold of a Sierra loading manual and see what they say. I have found that their listed hunting and accuracy loads are usually fantastic.

I recommend 45-46gr of Varget with 165gr gameking. Or 4064. Varget can be a tad dirtier than IMR4064.

I'm with you on the IMR-4064 and the 165 part.....but make it an accubond instead of the green box stuff......unless you're a Sierra employee and paid to promote their products!

I have found that 165 Noslers and IMR 4064 go together like butter and jelly. Found IMR 4320 does a good job as well. I will not post a load of grains, look it up and then do your benchwork from there.
My Lone Eagle handgun in .308 turns in sub MOA groups if I do my part. My McMillian turns in sub 1/2MOA if I do my part with these componets as well. Just be attentive to the case length and don't mix and match brass. Keep each guys brass seperate from the rest.
