Home defense

I was just wondering what everybody keeps for home defense? I keep a S&W model 19 "4" 357mag loaded with 145gr Winchester silvertips and a Stevens 67 12ga(cut off at 18.5inches) loaded with 3 inch ooo buck. And in the guncabnet I keep my beretta96 centurion 40 loaded with 180gr gold dots it's only a turn of a key away.

Oh yea I keep the revolver out because my wife isn't use to a semi auto in case y'all was wondering

Remington 870 home defense loaded with 7 rounds of 00 buckshot. The buck stops here.

Nothing wrong with keeping the .357 out, it is probably one of the best self defense rounds out there. My wife has my .357 in her nightstand and I have a Glock .40 in mine.

just the right and left microphones....mic check 1....2....haha.

oh there may be some 00 buck, 44mag...

though I have read #4 buck may be better for home defense if you have other family members in the home, ie going through drywall...

That is why you should not use a .44 Mag for two legged threats. A hunting cartridge is not recommended for personal protection against two legged perps. Use .44 Special personal protection ammo for two legged threats.

Glock 23 .40 cal with Winchester supreme elite hollow points. A 12 gauge isnt the best if you in very close quarters.

Backwoods7 10-27-2010 08:57 PM

Yea closer than 20 feet it's like shooting a rifle. I keep mine out for 4 legged threats (wild dogs hogs and that da** coyote that keeps comein in our yard) also best thing for acopperhead. I live in the middle of no-where if you can't tell...

Beside my bed I keep a 12 ga shotgun loaded wtih 2.75" high velocity #5 shot specifically because it will not penetrate miltiple walls and be lethal on the other side but at 20 feet is as lethal as it gets. IMO, any buck shot out of a shotgun inside a home is a recipe for disaster.

I also keep an AR15 loaded with 40 grain Nosler ballistic tips under my bed. Again the 40 grain BT will not penetrate walls and be lethal on the other side but will turn someones chest into mush.

Not for home defense, but my conceal carry weapoon, a S&W 442, is sitting on my night stand next to the shotgun.

I live in a area where I dont really even have to lock my doors yet I still keep loaded guns around the house and next to the bed. Right now loaded in my house in different rooms is a. Kimber custom 1911 45acp. Mossberg 12g. AR with lazer and flash light and 50round mag(incase zombie's break in I guess) Glock 23, and a Springfield XDM 9mm.

I have an 8month old so most of that will change soon.

Marlin 45-70 CB. :s2:

It's really a good gun for beside the bed. Holds 10 rounds. It's pretty compact. And you know it will do it's job well if it ever has to.
One in the middle.

I think it's like that about everywhere you go anymore.

sconnyhunter 10-30-2010 11:14 AM

IIRC, I'm actually required to try and retreat from the building before engaging the criminal.
If I do kill an intruder, I can and likely will be charged with murder.

BuckI380 10-30-2010 01:40 PM

remington 870 loaded with bbb. bushmaster ar15 loaded with 55 gr hp's. and my 380 in my night stand.

MizzouMonster 11-13-2010 09:39 AM

I keep a Colt .45acp in the nightstand and a 12 gauge pump with 2xx buck shot close in the closet.

Here in Missouri we have our version of the Castle Doctrine. I can shoot any intruder on my property and do not have to retreat.
