I have to agree on the Weatherby. I had two Mark five' s. Not worth the monek or even close for that matter. Just my expierence with them. I have a 257 Roberts and believe me it will handle all the chores you mentioned. Same with a 25-06.

Just about set on getting a .30-06 for my larger rifle needs and selling the 7 mag. I' m just now learning the " cost of mags" is the trade off of longer barrels and more weight. But, for a lighter cal rifle for mainly antelope still haven' t decided between the different choices. .243 (mild recoil)/ .308 (reputation for accuracy)etc.

Try the .260 Rem or 7mm/08. Both are light-recoiling and extremely accurate.

I can' t classify Antalope with sheep and goat.As for antelope a 25-06 will work good.Sheep and goats are bigger and alot tougher to bring down(so I' ve heard). My self I woul go with a 30-06 or 7mm-08 maybe a 300 of som-sort.

The 7 Mag., .270, and .30/' 06 are so close to each other in performance that if you already own one or the other, it wouldn' t make a lot of sense to sell one and get the other! Likewise, if you owned an ' 06, it would be silly to get a .308! If you want something that' s good for elk and bear, then get a .338/' 06 in an ultralight, and a .25/' 06 or .257 Roberts in an ultralight for the sheep, goats, and antelope.

My choice of caliber for the game you want to would be the 7mm STW also...
