Hard to argue w/the Ruger. As an aside,I was reading American Rifleman. They had a review on a .22 semi by Chiappa similar in appearance to a 1911.The gun shot very well-very accurate w/no ejection problems-according to the article. The name may sound weird but the gun is worth a look.

Thanks for the input guys. I shot my buddies p22 the other day and went to gander mtn and held the browing and the ruger 22/45 with the bull barrel. I'm going with the ruger, seems like the best gun for the money.

I have 4 of the Ruger's. A couple 22/45's and a couple Mark II's. I have shot several thousand rounds through each with no problems. The oldest one had probably 4 - 5 thousand rounds through it before it was ever taken apart to be cleaned.

I have and like the Ruger Mark III but I love the feel of my Ruger 22/45's and they shoot just as accurate and after thousands of rounds I'm still waiting for my first misfeed or jam. That says a lot to me right there. I don't like the feel of the new 22/45 models with the thin grips. I like the old models.
I've even thought they'd make great self defense pistols. 10 shots right in the head as fast as you can pull the trigger is pretty scary even from a 22lr.

Had my answer all ready untill you said about 400.00.But I am still going to say it. Save up a couple more hundred and get a S&W Model 41.You wont regret it.Preferably a Pre "A" Prefix gun.BTW Just looked on gunsamerica.com and they have a used Model 41 for $575.00 which is a pretty good price if you are interested.
