depends on the size of the shooter. I have a full frame glock 21 and am a big guy I could hide a 357 long barrel if I needed to. I wanted and still want a berreta 92 so I feel you there. I opted for the glock for 2 reasons the 92f did not come in a 45acp. If I ant buying the 92f I want a glock. I saw no reason to go another way sure I could have went with one of the look alikes but the names says it all. 500 or so rounds later and no issues.
Look at calibers first then the brand. Either way glock or berreta your be ok

Beretta is awsome I have a 40 and havnt had a problem. It would work for what you want but I suggest looking at a 92 centurion. It's gotta compact slide with a full size grip. That way it would concel better incase you ever needed to. My centurion 40 is as accurate and reliable as a full size. Have you thought about the 40S&W? That's my favorite deffensive round I feel it's better than a 9mm. That's just my 2cents I don't wanna start a war here or nothin debating better cartriges I just rather give up 2or3 rounds to have added nockdown.

Thanks Tim. I am a bigger man too so that info is helpful.
Thanks backwods. I am also considering the Beretta 96 ( same as 92 just 40 s&w caliber ). |
My wife shoots a Tauris 9mm, but that doesn't even compare to the quality the Beretta's are.

Finally made the decision... I purchased a Sig P220 Elite Dark Carry. ( .45 ACP).

Excellent choice! The P220 series is one of my favorite Sigs. |

I would definetly get ahold of a .40 SW or a .357 Sig and shoot them if you can. They are both superior defensive rounds over the nine IMO. They have little to no recoil and more punch. A 9mm just don't have the stopping power that the .40 or .357 Sig have. It's your life your protecting here, make sure you do what you can to make the most of it. Go a little bigger bro.
