Default Stevens model 200 in .243

Can anybody offer advice on best ammo for the Stevens 200 in .243? I'd rather not try four different types of ammo at $35 to $45 a box! Im looking at Winchester XP3 95gr, Hornady SST 95gr, Black Hills 95gr, and Federal 85gr BTHP. Will be using for whitetails in SC. Under 200 pounds and usually 100 to 300 yards. Thanks.

It's anyone's guess as to what will shoot BEST through your gun. But you can probably pick about any deer load and it'll shoot plenty good to kill 'em....

I've killed 35-40 deer with those Federal Premium 85gr Sierra GameKing HPBT...Sight them in 2 1/2 high at 100 yards and you'll be about 3 inches low at 300...It's a great bean field bullet...

I'd also try the 100gr Remington Corelokts...I've killed 125 or so with them, out to 300...They'll end up about 5-6 inches low with the same sight in as above...

I've been a big fan of Hornady stuff for a long time and it's not going away soon. Shoot the SST bullets.....I think you'll like them!

35-40 a box for .243?That cal ammo can be had for MUCH less than that pretty much anywhere.Check your local Wally world or Midway Shooters supply. The best bullet weight's will depend on the guns barrel twist.

I saw this some where - they said it's "trouble for whitetails"...............seems too me, you answered your own question.

Stevens model 200 in .243 Win + Bushnell Elite 3-9X50 + rifle basix trigger at 3.5 pounds + Federal 85gr BTHP = trouble for whitetails

Each gun may like a different type of ammo. Even guns of the same make and model may not like the same ammo. That being said, my two choices would be Federal Power Shok ammo or Hornady SST ammo. Those are what I'd pick.
