After shooting Remingtons, Federals , Winchesters and Winchester Silver Tips..the Silver tips grouped the best at 100 yds

Chuch have you ever tried 130 gr Sp Hornady Custom Loads. They are very reasonbly priced I can get them for around 25 dollars a box. One of my .270 shoots them as good as reloads the other shoots them real well but the one really loves them. Not the SST's just the plain old 130 gr. Soft pts. Give them a try I think you will like them. Good luck

That's why you have to try a bunch of different brands if you don't reload. My 700 in 30-06 prefers the Remington 150 grain core-lokts. It shoots consistently under an inch with them, whereas groups are close to 3 inches with Winchester power points.

Thanks guys, GOnewest, I tried to get a box of Hornabys but she was out..

Remington Core locs were horrible
Winchester reg. slight improvement
Federals...2nd best
and these Winchester Silver Tips..just what the doctor ordered. { -;
I only go to the range about twice a year..so 29.00 a box aint too bad.

Where they the regular old Silver Tips in the gray box? Or were they the ballistic Silver tips in the black box? Either way, as long as your rifle shoots them good I'd stick with them. My rifle likes the Silver tips in the gray box, but hates the ballistic silver tips and shoots horrible with them. Others have the exact opposite experience. It really all just depends on the gun. Each gun likes something different.

Most of my Remingtons shoot core lokts very well, those silver tips are the factory load that I recommend to most that dont have access to handloads.
