Remington 572 in .22 cal
 

Thought I might look for this little pump gun to accompany my Remington 760 as a little brother when out plinking. Anyone have this gun? What years were they made? How reliable is the gun? What sort or price range can I expect to pay for such a gun? Is the BDL version the fancy Monte Carlo stock? Open sights or a little scope on it? Just looking for some opinions.

I have one of these little jewels. I'm not sure when or how long they were made. I got mine in the late 70's. I bought a ADL because I liked the sights better. I contacted Remington because I wanted to get the BDL wood. Since it was a brand new rifle Remington took the ADL wood back sent me the BDL in place.All I paid a few dollars for the different prices of the stock and forearm. I have mine topped with a old Redfield rimfire scope.What I like is you can shoot 22 CB caps,shorts, longs and long rifles.

I looked on Gunsamerica awhile back. I know there was at least one there. Sorry I can't remember the asking price.I want to say in was in the 200.00 range.I maybe wrong.

If you can find one you'll be real happy with it. Mine has a slight bluing defect from the factory. I could live with it. It's been put away for several years. I have never had a malfuction. Great little rifle.

It's a fine little rifle but I don't think I'd go those prices. Without digging the paperwork out I'm sure it was under a 150.00.I bought it through JC Penney around 1978 when they were still selling guns.As a matter of fact I bought two of them. My hunting buddy wanted one. He no sooner got it from me when he traded it off. That pissed me off.

Maybe he traded it off because he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with it. Personally, I never owned one, and the reason for that is that several of my good friends have had them, and not for long. Their inaccuracy is legend. If you got a good one that shoots well, congrats, for that does not seem to be the norm for them. Really nice looking guns, but pretty much bad reps in the hit-where-yer-lookin' dept.......

Funny, I had not heard they shoot bad. I had people tell me they are a great little gun and they shot open sights. Is the accuracy relative to the fact it is a pump, not a bolt gun? I have a few other 22's that I have in bolt action and scope and they are more dialed in. I would be more concerned with the reliability of the gun as well as fun to shoot. Is accuracy that bad??? 25 yards, 50 yards?? I'm not expecting match precision. Thanks for any more replies.

The people I know who have had them are squirrel hunters, and won't put up with a gun you can't kill a squirrel with. I don't know about group size or range, but I do know they are back to shooting bolt actions of various makes.....

Mine has always shot well. First I ever heard they aren't accurate. As for my buddy selling it. I don't think he ever shot it. A relative wanted it so he sold or traded it to him.

Do the 572's come with dove tails for mounting scopes or do you drill and tap these guns? Is this gun funner to shoot with good 'ol iron sights or by putting a scope on them? Is it a tack driver at 50-75 yards with a scope?

My dad and uncle each got one when they were growing up. They each still have theirs. I shot my uncles all the time growing up when I was at the farm. I loved that little gun. It was pretty accurate for me. I never had any problems with it.

Getting close to making an offer on one....any last thoughts good or bad on this .22? Thanks
