Default Browning X-Bolt Questions

Did you guys use the barrel break in procedure for your X-Bolt? And if you did, how? Also what kind of accuracy are you getting?

Thanks

I believe in Barrel Break-in.

100 rounds through the tube before I consider it broken in.

Clean after every 3 shots for the first 50, then clean after every 5 shots for the next 50.

Mine is a Stainless Stalker in .338 Win Mag, so I can't do that in one setting.

I do have all my rifles hand lapped and a basic trigger job done on them right out of the box, before I put a single round through it.

I only have 20 rounds through it so far, but I'm damm near 1" MOA as it is.

As soon as turkey seasons ends, I'll finish breaking her in.

I love this gun......................I wish all my rifles were this well made !!!

I once read what some gun writer wrote...

1 shot, clean
2 shots, clean
3 shots, clean
...and so on until 10 shots.

I used to do all that routine in my younger days. Now I just initially clean and then shoot. Then I clean at the end of the day.

Similar to compound - smoothes the rough edges on the rifling which increases accuracy and limits fouling deposits.

Hope this helps.
