Ive heard nothing but good things out of them, ive been thinking about rebarreling the 700 from this post and was looking at ER Shaw but others kept suggesting lilja. They must be doin something right.

Well there is a reason why they are more expensive.

I guess that old remington model 788 carbine in .308 with a fixed lupy m-8 in 6x would qualify for that. That old warhorse is still going stong.

DPMS 5.56 NATO Sportical with t 3x9x40, kill anything I would need to in Iowa. Or I take my P22, which isn't a rifle.

I think the magnum version of the model 7 in stainless synthetic would be a fine choice, too bad they are as rare as hen's teeth that are capped... lightweight, easy to aim and point, plenty of power in the .300SAUM..too bad also that big great and the downturned economy let this fine version go by the wayside..I have one that has less than 100 shots on it.. GREAT RIFLE to carry and shoot...

My walking'n stalking rifle sounds much like yours. I have a Remington 700 BDL in a Ramline synthetic stock, topped off with a Bushnell 6x Bullet Drop Compensator scope. Nice and light, fires to point to aim and no changes in the scope sightings in 20 years. I like the synthetic stocks for the mere fact of no expension or contraction due to the weather. Sounds like you have a good combo going.

Remington 700 Mountain LSS 270 Win w/ B&C stock & Burris FFII 3x9-40 or the old faithfull Remington 600 308 Win & Nikon Prostaff 3x9-40. A Winchester post 64 M 70 XTR Black Shadow 338 Win Mag is suprisingly nice to carry too.
