For hunting 25yds is about right.IMO-Better to learn your trajectory than sight in at a greater distance.

I never had a issue with my 10/22 dropping at 100 yards. Even cheapo bulk ammo. I think it was falling about a inch or two maxs. Though for hunting something I would say 50 max.
