Default Coyote Rifle of choice ?

I have been looking for awhile at different rifles to target shoot for fun and take out coyote hunting. What do you prefer to use ? Cal. and bullet weight ?

Kimber Montana 1-9" 223 punched 233AI,unless you wish to build from the ground up and in that case a 700 based 1-8" N barreled 223AI at 21" gets the nod, replete with McMillan stock.

I'd be gunning the 75A-max at 3100fps+ via '335 and modest Leupie glass with ele turret ala Duplex via 1" tube. Park the A/O and pass the LRF.

I have been thinking about the same thing as you. I am not to far from building an AR15 with a 20", stainless, 1 in 8 twist, heavy barrel. Possibly having it dipped in predator camo. Probably top it with a Bushnell 6500 2.5-16X42 with mill dot reticle sitting in Game Reaper mounts.

Something like this.

You really are an idiot aren't you. Did your mother have any kids that she wanted to live?

It's beyond stupid at this point. I have never seen someone with such an extreme narcissistic disorder as this guy. He needs to seek professional help.

I don't believe that he could actually function out in the general public with out someone beating the snot out of him daily.

To the OP, I prefer a .243 with a 70-85 gr pill. If it is a dedicated coyote blaster, 22-250 with 40-55 gr v-max or nbts. If you practice a lot and don't reload, a .223 might be the best option because of ammo costs.

I personally have all 3. savage 243, vanguard 22-250 and ar-15 in 223. My favorite is the .243, because most of my coyote kills are during deer season and the .243 plays double duty very well. But a 20" or 24" barrel on an ar platform in .223 or .204 with good optics might be nice too.

The .243 is a great double duty gun but if your worried about fur then the 22-250 with 55 gr v-max is the ticket flat shooting and plenty enough gun. Of course I prefer to coyote hunt with a 12 gauge full of hevi-shot

I use my .204 with 40 gr V-max

If it's windy I'll use my .243 with 75 gr V-max

The yotes don't seems to like either.

I like my Ruger No1 22-250.

Two of my buddies were talking about coyote rifles. One said to the other you shoot a whole clip through that AR at coyotes. The other says yeah true but they never get away. I thought that was kinda funny.

My personal preferernce would be the 22-250 strickly for yotes.. If your doing double duty on deer then the 243.. But you stated you wanted to target shoot also then I might go with the 223 for the fun of it and the low cost ammo.
