If you are itching for a new rifle and you already have a .270 and .30-06, and don't plan to go after BIG GAME (Alaskan brown bear, Canada, Yukon Moose or Africa) go smaller. The ought six, with its ability to handle larger/heavier bullets than the 7mm mag, will be all you ever need here in the lower-48. But if you want something new and shiney, get a nice .243!! Then you will have a complete arsenal for the lower-48; from varmints to shiras moose.
