Default Painting a Stevens?

I have a Stevens M200 243. I want to paint. I've done a couple of shotguns but never a rifle. My question is a rifle I would believe would get a hotter barrel. Is this true and will paint hold up to this. Also, These kits that you get from midway and such are they worth the money and how hard are they to use. Just want to make sure before I get to deep into something.

The krylon camo spray paint from wm works fine. I've done 3 or 4 rifles and bp's with it. I use burlap strips to make my pattern. I went light to dark, then light again.
