Anyone own or previously owned a Smith and Wesson Sigma handgun? Wondering what everyone thinks about them?

the sigma is simple and it will go bang but that is as far as it goes. the trigger pull is absolutly horrible and the accuracy of my nine and my roommates fourty both left something to be desired this gun is nowhere near a glock or a sig but it is light years ahead of a hipoint. there is give and take but mine went down the road quickly to be replaced by a g17 and im not sorry to see it go but for the money i should not have expected the performance i expected. my vote is save your money and buy a glock or an xd

Has the worse trigger of any handgun I have shot but they're fairly inexpensive.

When I went through the academy back in the mid 90's, one of our classmates carried a Sigma in .40 S&W. He had more FTF's & FTE's than the other 19 of us combined.

well, maybe I don't want one then...they seemed nice and the 04 review I read on them seemed to say they fixed their issues...but perhaps not...I think I will keep looking then...thanks a lot everyone for the help.

I think the newer ones are better. Mine is the VE 40, it's ok but the trigger is pretty gritty. It's an early VE. Only other complaint is the beavertail is kind of wide and it beats the crap out of my thumb knuckle.

I have the sw40f it looks more like the Glock than the other versions at least I think so .I havnt had any ftf or fte I will say the trigger not a match trigger but is very usable you have to know what you can afford you can sell and trade up later I know a few out there of the newer version seem to do ok but its like everything else a bad one or two will slip through

I have one in a 9mm which it is okay, but then they were not meant to be target guns. They were designed for self-protection. To me they are look-alike of the Glock and the Glock can be had with a terrible trigger, just get a New York trigger. The NY trigger was developed for the NYPD who was trigger happy with a light pull, these were around 12 pounds. The Sigma will shoot with practice.

I have one in .380. Yeah, the trigger is terrible. I didn't buy it to shoot target. It's my CCW and it serves my needs just fine. Small and easily concealable. Would I buy another one? Probably not.

So much so that Glock sued S&W claiming patent infringement. S&W settled out of court by agreeing to make changes to the Sigma and from all accounts paid Glock a substantial settlement.
