Thanks all!I like the idea of building one myself especially since I can save money in the process. Is there a good site with guidelines for doing this?

Rock river dpms bushmaster armorlite s&w remington the list goes on. I have had to bushmasters great guns no problems. Get one that will do both 5.56 and .223. Some of the cheapo ars are not rated for 5.56 something about the pressure. I am getting another one this spring. I chose dpms mainly because I want a 308. I would not build one I have heard alot of stories of them not working right. Not that I am saying not to just might want to really think about your skill level in that matter. Plus if you go with a manf. gun you get a warranty. Try building a gun and asking dpms or who ever to warranty it.

I have talked with alot of guys on here that have trouble. I know onw guy here localy that built two nither worked and his buddy had a build build with on. I am not saying a smart guy who knows alittle about ars could not do it. I myself would not. It just ant worth it to me. Know if I knew alittle more about it all I might. My issue is in the lower. I could strip and reassemble a upper in no time. I just do not feel confident in my skills to do it. now when I get mine I might start a build just ot learn it. I think knowing how is a great thing to learn.

It might not be rocket science but to someone who has never assembled one or a trigger group it may be. One mess up could get you killed in a number of ways.

Anyone who talks like this should probably not be handling or shooting firearms.

I'm in the same position, just looking so far, but came across

Remington's R-15
It's camo, comes in .223rem, or .204ruger, 18", 22" or 24" barrels
check it out.
