Don't bother. They are an inferior rifle, even at the price they are offered for. There are far better quality rifles out there at the same price point. This discussion happens again and again around here. Very soon someone will post a long diatribe about how great their 770 is, and how accurate it is, and how it does a great job at killing whatever. And they are probably not all lying. But if you want evidence of the inferior quality, just go find one at a store, pick it up and look at it. Cycle the bolt, try the trigger, examine the fit and finish closely. Then do the same thing with a Marlin XL-7, or a Howa 1500/Weatherby Vanguard, Stevens 200, Mossberg 100 ATR and 4x4, to name a few. These are all better rifles than the 770, and many of they are cheaper. And for not a heck of a lot more than the 770, you can step up to a Remington 700 SPS or ADL, which is a major step up.

Stay away from the Remington 770. It's just an "improved" version of Remington's epic failure-the model 710.
