I am looking to coat a stock with somthing hard and scratch resistant .. I had a friend coat a few stocks with what he called bumper paint (he works in a body shop) but he lives too far away now.. I was going to try spray on bed liner .. Anybody have any other ideas ? ..Thanks

I'd recommend an oil finish such as tung oil. It seals the wood nicely, is fairly scratch resistant, and any scratches you do get are easily erasable. I use it on my hiking sticks and they get a beating during the year. The finish is really durable.

I am paralized from the waist down so I hunt off my 4 wheeler and I rest the gun across my lap. This is a second stock for the gun so I am not worried about looks. I am looking for somthing bullet proof as far as wear goes.. The stock cleaned up really well and I love the look of hand rubbed oil but not for this case .. I read that dura coat works on wood, has anybody tried that ? .. Thanks
