those where the cases(2) i found ...30. us army bad shape they are in.thought maybe the krag. wonder when they made those / mid /late 1800,s?
Could be from Lt. caspar collins etc getting those arrow shirt after leaving the protection of the fort.

Part of the reason why the military' s needs evolved to the 5.45x45 round, no recoil, no cavalry horses to worry about, and battles fought at closer ranges.

The one thing that hasn' t been mentioned about the cartridge and why it was developed is that we almost got our asses waxed by the mausers and that is what prompted the development of the 03 Springfield, which is just a modified mauser.
