Default Stainless vs Blued barrel.

My next deer rifle is gonna be a Remington 700 in 7mm rem mag, should i get a bdl with a blued barrel or the xcr with a stainless steel barrel?

I have a BDL in wood and it's too nice to take in the woods, so I take one of my 700's with the synthetic stock.

Since you're asking I'll give you my opinion based only on my opinion. LOL!

I'd go with the XCR in the blued barrel. Stainless barrels look awful ugly to me! I've passed up many deals because of having a stainless barrel. The only one that looked nice to me was on a Thompson Center Encore Pro .270.

Sorry I couldn't help any more than that. I don't know the merits of stainless over blued... and even wonder if there is, if it's worth it because blued barrels have treated me well for over 3 decades.

for deer hunting only 30-06 is more than enough ..bullets are cheaper and you have a bigger choice of bullets ..S/S barrel or BLUED go with the S/S ..less maintenance ...but its your call ...

Won't the stainless steel barrel scare off the deer if they see it?

I'm not a fan of stainless barrels, but it is your choice. I got my grandson a Rem 700 in .270 last Christmas. It has the camo stock/barrel, sharp looking rifle.

I like stainless and good old wood but then I like blue and good old wood too. Get what you like and the heck with what we think. Deer will politely fall down if hit right with any thing you shoot. One is just as accurate as another and most manufacturers make a very serviceable rifle.

I think that the blue barrel with a nice looking peice of wood makes one damn good looking gun!

If you got the money, XCR all the way.

Stainless won't rust, blued will, but if you take care of your blued rifle, you shouldn't have to worry about it rusting. Stainless is more expensive, but shoots no better than a blued. There you have it. Some people just like the look of stainless.
