Default Ruger M77 MRKII

I have a ruger m77 mrkII with a synthetic stock, when the rifle is grabbed at the buttstock where the recoil pad meets the stock it makes a popping sound. Is this normal for this type of stock because it is hollow or is something wrong? I would appreciate advise from someone who owns this type of rifle. Thanks.

Mine doesn't. What type of popping sound does it make? Is it like something is loose inside of it or like the stock just shirted on the action? If the later make shure all the screws are tight and that you can't wiggle the action int he stock.

The action is not loose. I think its just because its a hollow synthetic stock. I was just wondering if any one else with this model of rifle has had this happen. I have taken the recoil pad off to check on the inside and i don't see any thing cracked or broken. It may be cracked inside the material. WAR EAGLE!! What do you think Auburns record will be this year?

Hard to tell what they will do this year with all the new coaches and the ability to finish a game that they have had over the last couple years. There is a lot of talent in them if they get a coach that can harness it and make them push.

On the subject of the gun. I have the same gun and mine makes no noise. The stocks are very flimsy and I wonder if the strange hold (holding it by the butt) causes it to flex and slip on one of the action screws or something. Unlikely but if the gun shoots good don't worry about it.

This will be my third season with my Ruger 270 and I love it. Its a deer killing machine. I have shot 4 deer with it and it made pudding of there lungs easily. It shoots 3/4" as well.

The first year I hunted with it I used Hornady 140gr BTSP.
Lat year I used handloaded 130gr Gamekings.
This year since I still can't find primers in to I am using factory Winchester power max bonded.

I like to experiment alot with how different bullets preform.
