Lots of choices out there. I personally prefer heavier rifles with laminated stocks....just seem to shoot them better.

For a lightweight and accurate rifle, the Tikka T3 Lite would be a great choice. A Remington Model 7 would also fit the bill quite nicely, although it would be a little more expensive.

It really depends on your definition of accurate and what type of use the rifle will see(hunting, plinking or compitition target shooting)

If accuracy is THE most important thing, you should buy a custom built rifle which isn't cheap.

Really need to know what your intentions are with the rifle, and price range but you are probably looking at a Tikka T3 Lite, Savage, Kimber Montana (accuracy varies there), Winchester M70 Ultimate Shadow (if you can find one), or Remington M7.

+1 to the other comments. Another light, handy choice would be a Ruger Hawkeye Compact model.

Do you reload?
Must it be a .308?
Are you going to be using it to hunt with?
What's the price range of this new rifle?

Two other cartridge suggestions, 6.5mm-284Norma(if you reload),
7mm-08(just think of it as a .308, only better! haha.)
