Lightbulb Looking to buy a rifle for coyote hunting

I'm in search of a rifle to hunt coyotes in upstate New York .
Possibly a 204.Ruger ,222, 223. Reasonably priced.I don't need anything fancy as I'm not looking to spend alot.Just a good working rifle. I've hunted almost exclusively with a shotgun.Theres no rifle season in my region.I have gotten a few coyotes with a shotgun. But I think a little more longer range will improve my hunt. Thanks!

What's a cotote? I would forget the 204. The 223 and 22-250 would be better choices.

A Cotote is a coyote that cant "Yote'." due to insufficient blood flow
lol!
But thanks for the tip. I might opt for a higher caliber such as the one you mentioned to ensure clean kills.
