RE: Mossberg Slug Gun
You really opened up a can of worms on this one!
Rems and moss are both good guns. I know you asked about a rifled barrel, but I own a mossberg 500 with a 24" ported cylinder bore barrel.
I have NEVER, EVER had one problem with it (in fact,I own 2 of them, 12/20 ga.)
You will get many other opinions on this.
BUT, IMHO go with the moss

RE: Mossberg Slug Gun
I own, and hunt deer with annually, a Mossburg 500 20ga pump with a 24" rifled barrel, and soon to have a 2.5x scope.
I have fired both mossburgs and remington, I see very little difference between the two, and am very happy with my Mossburg.
Good Luck.

RE: Mossberg Slug Gun
Actually I have a mixed marriage in my gun. It is a Remington 870 Express with a Mossberg Slugster barrel with a scope. At 100 yards, it puts Lightfield slugs in a very acceptable group.
Have never had a problem, but have had a problem with my 500 in .410. The bolt does not lock up. This is a gun that has seen very little use and it is now at my gunsmith.
