Now, I just put black on everything. Several years ago, I put a silver Leupy VXIII on a Tikka T-3 stainless / synthetic. It was o.k but did not match perfectly (they seldom do).

I don't care much for silver scopes. They seem to be a fad that goes in and out. They don't often match the gun as bugsNbows stated but neither does the gloss blackmodels. I't too muck silver for my liking. I do like a matte scope with silver rings on a stainless gun.
Here's some picturesof one of my guns set up that way.

I could have gone with matte bases and silver rings on this one. I'm doing the same to my new Sako 75 that I should have done by the end of next week.

Any way don't have any stainless rifles so I can't be much help. But I always like the contrast between black/blue and the stainless.

Nice rack Skeeter. The black/silver thing is more of a preference. My Ruger 270WSM is a polished stainless and wears a matte finish silver VX2, my Ruger Hawkeye is the matte stainless and that is wearing a matte Zeiss Conquest which looks just as good as the silver Prostaff that I had on it.

Matte black scopes, bases and rings.
Unless you want three colors of "stainless" on your gun. The gun will be one shade of silver, the scope anothershade of silverand the rings will be yet another shade of silver.

If you get a scope, bases, and rings from someone like Leupold they should all pretty much match each other. If you get a gun, bases, andrings from the same manufacturer like Sako, they will match. Matching every thing silver is where it get's tough. Even matte black have different sheens and don't match perfectly. It's about as close as it gets though.
I just got a scope and rings/bases for my new gun today.
