Default Best semi-auto shotgun for $500?

Well I am in the market for a "versatile" bird gun. From mountain quail to canda geese. I cant buy something that will break the bank so about $500 is my limit. I know of certain models such as the Reminton 11-87 or the Stoeger M2000 that are in my price range and quite frankly I dont know how much better one of those is over the other. So this is where I need your help. What semi-auto shotgun that is priced for about $500 is the best bang for your buck?

Thank you!

BHB

I think you will have a hard time finding an 11-87 for about five hundred bucks. If you do, grab it they are great shotguns. Can't speak on behalf of the stoegers though they seem to be fairly popular on these boards

The Stoeger 2000, Mossberg 930, Charles Daly Field Hunter, and Remington 11-87 all should stand up well to the rigors of hunting, and fall within your budget. If you shop hard enough you may find a used Browning Gold for that price as well, although the majority seem to be in the $600-$700 range.

I shoot a SPR453 I posted about this gun under another topic. Is made in russia but imported and sold by remington under the spartan spr453. 3 1/2inch auto for 450. I bought mine in camo with a 26inch barrel. They do come in black witha 28. Also comes with 4 extended choke tubes. Only have had mine about 5 months but no porblems shoots anyhting I put in it. I bought the gun based on reviews I read online everyone said it was tough as nails.

Yeah back during hunting season I remember seeing them onsale for $500 at a sporting good store here and seeing them at Wal-Mart for $519 or something like that. Now they are up to $600 and something. However, I think you could easily find one for $500 somewhere maybe used but you could find it.

I'm in this position myself and am thinking either a 11-87 or a older 1100 magnum.
