Default Hornady Light Magnum

Is anybody using, or has anybody used Hornady Light Magnum ammo in
30-06... 150gr. SST or165gr SST. How did it do on game?
How accurate is it in your rifle?

I have taken 2 elk with the 165 grain interbond light mag ammo. I chronyd them at 2950 from my 22" barrel and they shoot 1" groups most of the time. My buddy took two whitetails with the same load and one tipped over and other crawled about 5 yards. I cannot say how the SSTs terminal performance will be but I would expect it to be fast like the interbonds and capable of good accuracy.

I tried the 150 in both my 06's, but neither gun liked it as good as Core-Lokt's, so I never tried it on came.

I tried the 150 SST's in my Sako 75 "06. They really didn't shoot all that well for me. I'm currently shooting 150 gn. Barnes TTSX (loaded by Stars and Stripes Ammo) and they are the bugs nuts.

i shot hornadys "custom ammo" this year...cant remember if i shot 150 or 165gr SSTs out of my 06....killed a very large bodied buck at 75yds or so...heart shot. 1/2" or so hole through his heart...bullet did its job and looked like it stayed together very well..buck only went 15yds or so and dropped over dead...

shot VERY well...havent shot anything else that shot near as well and ive shot atleast 5 other bullets from that gun...

im going to stick with them...

I use 165 grain interbond light magnums in my 30-06. They shoot very accurate through my rifle.

Close range or way out there, the stuff devastates deer. The farthest one got was about 20 yards. All the others were dead right where they were when I squeezed the trigger.

The hornady light mags arethe only factory ammo my a-bolt (270, not a 30-06) loves. Often 3 shots at 1/2" always 3/4" or less if I dont pull one.It is really loaded different from other factory loadings. I was going to sell my a-bolt before I tried this ammo. Every other brand(hornady custom, federal premium, federal fusion, federal power shok, winchester ballistic silvertip and accubond, winchester powerpoint, remington corelokt, remington premium, black hills gold)I tried shot from so-so 1.25-1.5" to horrible 3+" groups.

I'll admit that I'd never know the difference between a 3/4" and a 1.5" group in the woods, but a 1.5" group doesnt make me feel very confident when it goes boom. The interbond bullets that come loaded in the stuff are also very stout bullets, but not too stout. They still open a pretty big hole in the back side of deer.
