I would select the 270. Ammo is readily available at reasonable prices and better selection of factory loads.

sounds like someone just wants a new gun.... Nothing wrong with that, i have been there. I would stick with the 270 win and look at something completely different. Maybe get a 7mm-08 which is short action, fantastic round for deer. Or go with a good woods gun. To me there isn't much more out of a 270 wsm over the 270 except ammo that costs 3 to 4x as much.

RE: .270 Win or .270 WSM???

I'd get a .270 win. A buddy has a .270wsm and can't ever find ammo for the thing. They live in a small country town that the one store sells ammo but no .270wsm. They usually have .270win though. Wal-Mart is 30 minutes away and he said they also never have .270wsm. So he ends up having to drive an hour or so just to get ammo where as with a .270win he could have gotten ammo locally or 30 minutes away at Wal-Mart or most any other store for that matter that sells ammo. Ammo just isn't easy or common to find for the wsm and that's the only reason why I wouldn't go with it.

ActuallyI love Browning rifles.

I've just always went with stainless/synthetic and I'm a little leary about going with a wood stocked, blued barrel gun for hunting. I know they've worked for decades....but I worry about the effects of rain and such.

If anyone has a "pet load" or favorite factory load for the .270 WSM I would really like to know about it also
I lived and hunted in Alaska for three years with blued, wood-stocked rifles. A rub off with Birchwood-Casey SHEATH, never had any problems, even on coastal hunts.

Just a few weeks ago Isaw 270wsm Lh SS/syth. offerings by Savage & Tikka T3 Lite. If you like browning you might like the tikka as well.

What happened to the 3006? Still thinking about doing something custom with it? Just wondering the appeal(.270)?

A good friend of mine just bought a Kimber Montana in 270 WSM. SS/Synthetic. Nice, light gun. After a barrel break-in workout, it shot 3 handloads into a slightly over 1 MOA group. And that's just the first handload that was tried in it. Should turn into a real decent shooter.

RE: .270 Win or .270 WSM???

Will the 270WSM be around in a decade or two from now? That's a good question.

My question is will any of today's ammo and guns be around a couple years from nowwith Obama and Biden in office.

To answer the original question I would go with the 270 Win.Will do most anything you are asking, ammo is allot cheaper, can be found most places. I've killed many a deer with a 270Win and very seldom had to go looking for one.
The 270 has been around for quite awhile and I don't see it going anywhere soon. Unless of course Obama and Biden have anything to say about it.

RE: .270 Win or .270 WSM???

Browning rifles come factory glass bedded, free floated, and feature an very hard epoxy finish. This finish is so tough you would almost have to deliberately try to tear up the stock to damage them finished in such a manner. My own personal choice is the A-bolt. Life is too short to hunt with ugly rifles.

RE: Win 70 in 270 Win

It's your money so spend as you wish. Having had both a 270 WSM and a 270 Win, I sold the wsm. The 270 Win will do anything thing the 270 WSM will do and will do it cheaper.
