AK question

RE: AK question
Personally, if you're set on an AK then just buy the stamped receiver and be done with it. I seriously doubt you will get any discernible advantage with a milled receiver, it'll just cost more. If you just want to put holes in milk jugs at 50-100 yards most quality AK's will do that no problem. They aresturdy, simple and reliable to a faultand the ammo is readily available. There is so much 7.62x39 out there it won't run out that's for sure. Just do some research, get a good one and you'll be fine.
I own AR's, AK's and SKS rifles and they all do what I want them to do. The debate as to which is better (AR vs AK) will go on for ever. Both have their good and bad points. Personally I like the AR's better but I will never be without an AK and I feel it's a slightlybetter choice for a SHTF rifle due to it's durability, low maintenance and all around usefulness of it's chambering (7.62x39).
Not all AK stuff is interchangeable but most of it is. I don't think a stock from a stamped AK will fit a milled one. Don't be afraid of a stampedAK, a good quality AK47 will serve you very well.

RE: AK question
An AK with a milled reciever will set you back considerably more than will one that's stamped. If you think about it, those "cheap", stamped AKs and AK-clones have been out there beating the bush for years. You'd have to do a lot of shooting to wear one of them out.
I'd much rather have a Valmet or a REAL Galil (high-quality Kalashnikov in 5.56 or 7.62), but they've really gotten expensive.
