RE: Ziess Conquest
It's a great scope for sure (I have two). I agree with Stubble...9-10X at top end is plenty. Besides that, typically the higher power scopes have side focus or front end A.O. I don't like that it normal hunting scope usage.

I own 2 Zeiss Conquest scopes,a 3x9x50mm and the 4.5x14x44mm. Both excelent quality and I "was" a big Leupold fan untill I tryed the Zeiss. I bought both of mine off of e-bay and saved hundreds of dollars! Check out ths guy he is great to deal with...

RE: Ziess Conquest
I haved owned leupold, burris and zeiss. I currently have4 zeiss conquests 3 of which sit on top of my main big game hunting rifles, the leupolds are nowfor mysafe queens!I guess you can say I prefer the conquest to the VXIII's both optically and functionality.... In terms of holding POI and tracking my conquests have been spot on( currently these 3 top; 7mm rem mag, 338wm and 50 cal ML).
I concur 3x9/10 mag.is a good balance for big game usage.

RE: Ziess Conquest
I have a 3-9x 50 mm on my ML. It is crisp with very good contrast. low light performance is superb for a scope in that price range. So far has performed flawlessly. I have 1 - Leupold Vari-X III scope and 1 Nikon Monarch of approximately the identical setup of the Conquest. In my opinion, the Conquest is hands down ahead of the Nikon in very low light, and seems to me to be better than the Leupold in clarity and edge to edge imaging. My "tests" were certainly not scientific. Just a "eyeball" comparison looking into the woods behind my house late in the day.
