Default Which Extra Barrel for Handirife?

I have a handirifle in .223. Fun gun. I want to get an extra barrel. Here are my choices:
.22 hornet, .243, .270, 7mm-.08, .280, .308 and 30-06. There is a chance a 25-06 barrel might fit also. Here are my exisiting guns, two bolt actions (.308 and 30-06) plus one semi auto 12 gauge, two semi auto .22 LRs, and one .54 cal muzzleloader:

Where I live the shots are fairly short, 100 yards is a LONG shot. I mostly hunt deer with some turkey hunting also. I am leaning toward .243, .270 or 7mm-08 for the extra barrel. .270 is probably my # choice right now.

Tell me which you would get and why. Thanks!

You might want to check with H and R. I don' t believe they make a 7mm-08. If they did I would get one myself and I have been waiting for them to do it!!

I would opt for the 7mm-08 or the 270. Mild recoil, excelent ballistics, all around excelent cartriges.

Here is the link to their 7mm-08.

With what you already have. I would opt for the 243 or 25-06. This for long range varmit and whitetail deer.

Quilly, there isn' t a 35 Rem barrel available for the Handi Rifle at this time and I doubt there ever will be unless someone starts doing custom barrels for them. I wish someone would though because I want a 375 Win.

Thanks for the advice so far. let me also say that I don' t handload. Knowing this, I am leaning to toward the 270 barrel. With factory ammo which would you choose?
