Default 7mm Rem Mag Bullet Choices

For those of you who shoot the 7mm Rem Mag, what would be the best bullet to use for both mule deer and elk? Is 150 grain big enough for elk or would I be better off using 165 grain? Is the 165 grain too big for mule deer? I guess my question is, what would be a good all-around bullet to use on both mule deer and elk or do need to use different bullets for each? I'd like to be able to sight in with one bullet and make life simpler.

Ditto what Muzzila said. I took a nice 5x5 this year in CO at 385 yards with 160 gr Partitions.

All gave great answers. I like heavy for caliber bullets. SO for me I like 175gr. but 160 is an all around.

I have killed several elk and a few moose using 140 gr partitions out of my 7mm mag and 7mmstw.My partners both use 140 gr partitions as well and have each taken moose and elk with no problems at all.We have recovered only a couple of bullets as penetration with partitions is excellent even with bullets as light as 140 gr.

I like a well constructed 175gr. bullet due to its sectional density. Especialy for elk. Good Luck
