RE: .223 Ammo..???

Went to gunshow this past weekend and they were trying to sell the Rem 55 gr fmj that Wally World sells for $15 a box of 20! I use to keep them bought out when it was $6.44 a box...yeah I got alot of it stashed! One guy was selling reloads in bulk for $215 a 500.I feel so much better about the 1K of L.C ball I bought from a neighbor for $275.The gunshows carnies are also hyping powder and orimewr shortages and gauging folks! The local Big 5 can't keep 223 stuff for more than a day,I have to hide my stash or my son will setup in parking lot of gunshows and sell me out of ammo![:@]

Just be careful when shooting steel case ammo. The lacquer coating intended to keep the cases from rusting WILL melt when you "get happy" and get the chamber hot enough to melt it. Later it will return to solid and is a P I A to clean, and can easily become dangerous.

Stalkingbear is correct....watch that steel-cased ammo. The owner's manual of my DPMS very clearly warns you about shooting it just for the reasons Neil said....

I hit the jackpot a couple weeks ago. Found a guy locally selling 575rounds of M193 and American Eagle brass cased PLUS 300 once fired brass for.............$80. :D

Cabela's sells PMC brass cased 55gr FMJ for $7.99 a box. When I was there (Hamburg, PA)last month they must have had 1000 boxes on the shelf.
