I have an Enfield 1905 that my grandpa picked up during WWll that I would like to learn more about. Could someone point me in the right direction?
Some of the markings on it.
Between the bolt and the sights it is marked "CR 868"
The band by the stock says "ER Enfield 1905 SHTLE T***"
Is this a gun case gun or something that is useable? It is very good shape but you can tell its been used. Do I clean it and put it away or should I use this gun? If its a good gun to use can I mount a scope to it? What are the things on the left hand side... they almost look like another pair of sights?
TIA
Jake
I can post some pictures if that would help anyone

As noted above, it is what's left ofa British military Enfield rifle, circa 1905, chambered for the .303 British cartridge. Have it checked by a gunsmith before firing it. If the bore is good, and headspce checks out, it could be used.....
