Do you mean the Franchi model 48 AL Semi-Auto?

If so then I can help. I used to own one and it shot perfectly for me no matter what I put through it. I hunted with it a few times and it shot well in the field as well. I sold it years ago and the only Franchi I have left is a model 2005 Trap combo O/U.

Was yoursa 12 gauge?
This is a 12gauge.
The only 48 I found doing a search was a 20 and a 28 gauge.

Mine was a 12ga and I didn't have a single problem with it....I don't remember a single jam, fail to feed or fail to eject....

I have one, it is 10x more reliable on feeding and ejecting than any Remington auto loader I've had the misfortune to own. Unless it was abused it should last a long time.

I love my Franchi,it's a 12 Ga., it's lightweight, it's not a gas operated auto, there is a copper/brass sleeve thing that fits over the shell magazine tube that can be turned for heavy or light loads.

Not much bad about them other than they are not made in 12 gauge any longer. Being Long Recoil operated, they are not the best for load versatility. They are pretty much geared for upland use but, can be used for other things. They take a little longer to unload because you can't rack the rounds out thru the action like most other semi auto's. It's really a safer method in the long run. They are the longest running auto loading shotgun currently in production.

I've had mine for quite a few years now and for me there is no better upland model.

I've had these in 12ga. Theyfeel very much like the Auto-5 Browning on the shot. They're recoil operated and the barrel slides into the receiver when you shoot. I like the feeling. I love my Auto-5s. I'd say that these are the next best thing besides the others such as Daiwa, Savage, Remington, etc.
