Default Which .25-06

I've got the itch to get a new rifle and it appears the .25-06 is going to win out. I'll be mostly shooting paper and coyotes with an occasional trip out west for Mulies and Antelope.

I've been through the rifle racks and have narrowed down to a couple rifles. I liked the T3 and the Savages, but I really want a 24" barrel to maximize performance of this round.

In the same price range I like the Remington 700 (either in SPS Stainless/Composite or in the CDL Blue/Walnut) and the Ruger MkII Hawkeye.

For the same money, which rifle would you prefer and why?

I got a Savage 110 FP law enforcement series 24" barrel its in 300 win mag but comes in 25-06 to. its like 8.5 lbs. but the weight is distributed very even so it doest fell like you got a 10lbs weight tied to the barrel.

Just got it a couple of days ago, havent shot itbut read forums on it and heard it has very good groups at long ranges... pm me let me know if this has helped you in any way...

oh... mine coat $540 plus tax and shippining so roughly $665.00

When I bought my 25-06 I chose the Ruger M77 due to the fact it was the only gun the made with a Heavy Sporter 24" barrel. For varmits and paper I wanted a heavier barrel and for western hunting/deer blind hunting I wanted a manageble weight and this gun fit the bill. Here it is with it's first yote....

Ilove my ruger m77 hawkeye in 25-06. Its a very smooth shooting gun. Mine likes 115 grain ballistic silvertips. I also like the 3 position saftey even though ive had 2 instances this year when i forget its 3 positions.

My vote goes to the Ruger. Good luck.

Buy the one that fits you the best. All of the rifles you listed are quality firearms. Some appear more aesthetically looking than the others but this is a personal affair. I have a S&W 1500 w/22" barrel and overy my chronograph I only lose about 45 fps compared to my best friends 24" barreled Remington 700. 45 or even 65 fps isn't enough velocity loss to have any real world effect. Of the rifles you listed the only one I don't really care for is the Ruger. This is because of the heavy sporter contour barrel. I don't like the balance of this rifle in my hands. My cousin owns a stainless 77 in 25-06 that is an awesome shooter but I just don't like how it balances in my hands.
