RE: Lightweight semi-auto Deer Rifle

In the March 2003 in the NRA " American Hunter" they test a Benelli R1 Semi-Auto Rifle. It weights 7 lbs. in .30-06 Sprg. or .300 Win. Mag. for $1,080 www.benelliusa.com . Good luck.

Not to be un-American but...a standard SKS shooting the 7.62x39 cartridge has about the same balistics as the venerable 30-30 Winchester. The latter being reputed as the cartridge that has taken untold thousands of deer every year.
They are inexpensive, the cartridges are easily located and can be a blast just to shoot!
Just a thought.
