Default Parkerizing

my 870mag rem is pitted and I may replace it, but before I do. I'm wondering about refinishing the recever and barrel...I see some places online...parkerizing or blueing...can parkerizing fix a heavy pitted gun...can a gunsmith shop make it camo like the new ones...thanks for anyhelp....a guy I work with said he'd take it for 50 bucks plus 20 to change the names (home defence) he don't care what it looks like...would you guys buy new?

If it's pitted on outside but don't affect operation of it,you'll be fine with having it finished but I would reccomend you have it parked (phospate) then baked on finish on top of that. That way,not only will you have your camo top finish, but phospate makes an excellent base for such finishes in order for them to be bonded better and last longer.
