85 gr up, pick one and go hunt, they all work, find one your gun likes and use it.

brand doesn't matter very much, any of them will kill a deer. a properly placed .22 bullet will kill a deer, although i wouldn't recommend that.;)with that being said, the only bullets that will go through my guns are hornadys. i use a .243 for deer hunting, and i shoot hornady 100 gr. boat tail soft points. they open up a hole this big

I use the cheap stuff. Remington green box 100 gr. pointed soft point core-lokts. They work great. Accurate. Good penetration. One shot. One kill.

Hornady Custom 100 gr BTSP. 3/4" all day long out of a completely stock Remington 700.

I used to use 95gr Winchester Ballistic Silvertips but dont use that gun anymore. They shot great but i hate cleaning up the barrel after shooting the coated Winchester bullets.

I agree, they are as close to turning my .243 into a "deer rifle" as i've found.
