Default Optima Elite .243 Barrel In

I got the .243 barrel in for my Optima Elite. I've spent a ton of money on the Optima and all the muzzleloading stuff. I can't justify buying a decent scope for the .243 right now but I wanted to play with it and try it this season. I have my Model 70 with a Burris Short Mag, so I just bought the scope base for the .243and swapped the scope. I am hoping to try it out this weekend. I am hoping it shoots as well as the muzzle loader barrel. I just picked up a box of the 100gr Corelokts to get sighted in and try out. I will post a report later. I also need to re-check my zero on the muzzy barrel cuz it slipped when I was cleaing it last and fell to the floor. I was in the house and the floor was carpeted, so I kinda doubt I hurt anything but I figured I better be safe since I plan on hunting with it next week.

Marshall,if you can swing roughly 110$ to about 150$ you can get a nikon prostaff, burris fullfield 2,or weaver. Thosethree are the most scope you'll get for the money and are good scopes-you won't feel the need to upgrade later. There may be other scopes out there reasonable but those are the only ones in that price range that I would (me personally) trust to my knowledge.Good luck with your outfit!

That is about the price range I'm looking at. I'll ptobably do somethings after Christmas.

I took it out Sat and was pretty happy with the way it shot. I ended up getting about a 1" group at 100yds. I wasn't impressed with the Corelokts though. I had 2 out of 16 that were duds. That comes out to12.5% that are bad. That is terrible. I tried shooting both of them twice and nothing. Both the primers were dented the same as the rest, so I know it wasn't the gun. I don't think I'll use those any more. I have never shot Remington ammo before and I don't think I will after this. I've never had a problem with Winchester ammo, so I will try those in the gun next.
