Default Walmart Remington 770

Has anyone bought the Remington 770 .270 with the scope that comes with it? Im thinking about getting the 770 but wanted to know if the scope that is on it is a good quality scope or if I should buy the gun and get a different scope. Thanks

Run away run far far away. The 770 is the shame of remington. Start looking for reviews about it online and you will know what I mean. If that is all the money you have look for a Stevens 200 or a Mossberg ATR both are good rifles and better then the 770. If you can spare a few more bucks check out a Savage.

I second what RugerM77.270 says, and add that the scope on the 770 package is of poor quality also.

The lowest priced scope I would put on a rifle is a Nikon Prostaff.

I don't know what that scope is, but I doubt that it could be of lower quality than that rifle.

Save your money, and buy aRemington Model 7, Model 700, or better yet, get one of the new Winchester Modle 70's.

And a third vote to stay away from that rifle!

One more "no" vote on the Rem. 770. Minimal in every way. Spend the additional $150 or so and go for the Model 700 if you like Remington. As for the scope, I'd bet the "package" has a near bottom of the line as well. If you are on a budget, look at something like a Leupold Vari-X II.

I agree with everyone here and run far away from it. You can get a better quality gun in the Savage 110 or 111 packages. I have no idea why Remington still sells that rifle..

PLEASE do yourself a favor and stay away from the 770. All it is an "improved" version of the 710. Another thing-DON'T buy any factory package as the scope they put on will be a very cheap scope. Better to buy a savage 110 and nikon 3x-9x-40mm-both of which are available at wal-mart.

I've seen some nice gun packages. I looked at a Remington 700 with a nice looking Nikon scope on it from I think it was Dicks Sporting Goods when I got my 30-06 and was looking at different ones.
